4 Tips For Planning Your Wedding Ceremony

Posted on: 20 July 2021

When it comes to planning a wedding, many people focus on the reception and the party that follows the ceremony. However, there is more to a ceremony than just showing up. You need to invest time in planning your wedding ceremony as well.

Tip #1: Find an Officiant

First, you need to find an officiant. Long gone are the days where you have to get married by some religion's figurehead. You can hire a non-denominal officiant. Or you can even have a friend or family member get licensed to perform your ceremony.

This person is going to be standing up with you and your spouse as you get married. You are going to want to get familiar with whomever you use as your officiant. Getting to know the officiant will give your wedding a more personal and authentic feeling. If you are using someone you don't know, be sure to meet with them a few times before your wedding.

Tip #2: Choose a Spot Close By

Second, you don't have to get married in the same space as you are holding your reception. However, you will want to choose a close location, so that way your guests don't have to drive that far from the wedding to the reception, and you can get there quicker as well. You may want to provide transportation for your guest between the wedding and reception venue.

Tip #3: Offer Comfortable Seating

Third, you will want to think about your guests and how they will feel during the ceremony. You are going to want to offer comfortable seating. If you are getting married in a church, you may want to add some extra cushions to make the pews more comfortable. If you are getting married outside, be sure to rent some really nice and comfortable chairs.

Tip #4: Choose Readers Carefully

Fourth, it is common to have readers at your wedding. When it comes to choosing someone to read a passage at your wedding, think about who would be right for the role. If you have a friend who you know doesn't like public speaking, even if you are really close, they may not be the right person for the role. Choose people who want to speak and who feel comfortable doing so, and if someone turns you down, don't take it personally.

When it comes to your wedding, don't forget about the ceremony. Choose an officiant who you feel comfortable with and who will be able to conduct an authentic ceremony. Choose a ceremony spot nearby your reception, be sure to offer comfortable seating, and choose readers who are comfortable speaking in front of people.
