If you and your spouse-to-be love spending time on the beach, it may be the perfect place to say "I do." Whether you stay close to home or are planning a destination wedding in a tropical location, there are a few things you'll need to consider, in order to have wedding of your dreams.

When planning a beachfront wedding, the first thing you'll need to decide on is the location. For example, you can either pick a local lakefront locale or fly to an island to say your vows oceanfront. Before picking a far-flung destination, however, make sure your wedding party and most important guests will be able to make the trip.

Since you'll be spending your big day outdoors, there are some precautions you'll need to take, to ensure your guests' safety and comfort throughout the event. Plan the details as far ahead as possible, to avoid any last-minute emergencies. 

Here are some additional tips for holding a successful beachfront wedding and reception: 

1. Pick a Venue

After deciding on which beach you'd like to exchange vows on, consider if you'd like to use a specific venue, such as an oceanfront hotel, or not. If you go the private venue route, you and your guests will have a place to relax, in between the wedding and reception. If it's a hotel, you may also be able to book a block of rooms at a discount, which will come in very handy, if you're planning a destination wedding.

As another, budget-friendly option, you can simply rent a gazebo and chairs and set them up on a public beach for the ceremony. Be sure to check with the city, ahead of time, to see if you'll need any permits. Also, make sure you have a fast and easy place for you and your guests to escape to, in case of inclement weather. Renting an event tent may be another possibility. 

2. Keep Guests Comfortable 

Since guests will be sitting on a sunny, and possibly hot, beach throughout the ceremony, plan for their comfort. For instance, place sunglasses on a tray at the entrance to the event, in case anyone forgot a pair. You can also erect umbrellas or canopies over the guests' seating areas to block the sun.
